Top Music Streaming Sites

If you are a music junkie who loves streaming video, you may be happy to learn that there are a ton of sites that allow you to do something very similar for audio. Although some of these sites come with subscription fees, it is possible to get a very enjoyable music experience online for little to no money whatsoever. If you are willing to look at a few options, you can find one that works best for you and start streaming music essentially right away.

Spotify is a great option for streaming your music online. Run through Facebook, its web player app allows you to listen to any genre and artist that you want at any time. You can even listen to whole albums through the web player, start to finish. If this sounds like something you want to do, you should definitely give Spotify a try. You can use Spotify for free, but if you pay a monthly fee you get higher-quality audio and can skip out on the commercials.

Pandora is a site that has long been credited as the start of internet radio. The idea is that the site generates radio stations full of music by artists similar to the ones you enjoy. You can get incredibly detailed in customizing radio stations by telling Pandora which songs you like and which you do not. Pandora maintains a weekly limit for users who do not pay a subscription fee. If you do pay you get higher quality audio and can listen to as much as you want. Pandora does have commercials unless you upgrade to a premium account.

Grooveshark is another great music streaming website. It also bills itself as online radio and is designed to directly compete with Pandora. The design of the player can be changed, unlike Pandora’s so if you have it operating in a window at all times you can customize it to look like you want it to. Grooveshark also allows you to skip tracks as many times as you want, unlike Pandora. You can also replay songs, which Pandora does not allow either. Grooveshark gives you more flexibility, though Pandora has a different library that makes it still a viable competitor. Ultimately, all three music streaming sites have free versions, so if you want to pay for one of them you can give all three a try and see what you like before signing up for any of them.
